For those of you that are located in the western Wisconsin and Minnesota area, the Viking Flying Club in cooperation with EAA 509 will be holding our annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on June 28th, from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon. We'll also be giving EAA Young Eagle rides weather/time permitting and we have a couple of displays set up including a home building demo of a Sonex that's being built by one of our members. He also has a completed Savanaah that he finished last year and has built both a RV6 and 8.

Hope for blue skies and CAVU with light winds!!

I would love to be there but my Champ is far from being done. When my plane is done yours and the log cabin fly-in is tops on my list.

Understandable Jim........fly in's without a plane is like kissing your sister. Must be why I drive 10 miles to pick up my plane so I can fly 6 miles to the Log Cabin fly in. I only hope I get the L16 done before I'm too old to fly it. Middletown next year was my goal but looks pretty remote right now. Keep running into unanticipated snags.

Mike,
You, Lloyd Thompson, and Delcom have been motivating me to get my
L-16 done in order to make it to Middletown next year. Don't start slacking on me now!

The 'unanticipated' is what holds me up. When I redone my present Champ, it was disassembled but all the parts were more or less there. Also, I had two other Champs on the field to look at when I had a question. This L16 has probably been apart since the 70's and sold/moved several times so parts 'disappear' (stolen/sold) that are particular to the L16 or so it seems. But I am a persistent cuss and keep plugging away. I try to put 3 or 4 hours on it every weekday if possible but a lot of that time is searching and thinking

With our fly in coming up next weekend, I guess the L16 will have to take a back seat and after that we have annuals on all three Champs. Always something. I think Lloyd will finish waaaaayyy ahead of me.

Well, we had our annual Pancake Breakfast and Fly In this morning. Very successful in spite of 20-30kt winds at times. I think we served over 400 orders which is a lot for a little club like ours.

Lots of happy pancake eaters. We have excellent community support!

? That's my usual perch running the radio when the traffic is heavy.

We gave about 20 Young Eagle rides. The kids didn't seem to mind the rough air at all. Don, the pilot is 81 years "young" and one of the smoothest pilots I know. The plane is a 'four wheel" Europa.

Of course, I'd like to say that the Champs were 'center stage' but we kept them tied down today. It was 'rather exciting' watching some of the landings of the lighter planes. The wind was stiff as I mentioned but right down the runway. Some made several landings "in sequence". All in all a very good day: lots of fun and no mishaps!!

Thanks Joe! I haven't figured out how to put multiple pictures in so I have to run back and forth to Photo Bucket and edit the Aeronca site whenever I want to put a picture in. Guess it works...just takes longer.

Good for you Mike, I'm glad you guys had a good crowd. The weather around here was absolutely beautiful today.
