When the wx gets bad i look up at the sky from the ground....

Nate when the weather turns bad I look at the refrigerator in the hangar and hope that it is not empty. I usually look at the weather for three days before plan to fly and three days after I plan to fly and if any clouds are forecast I again go the refrigerator. I may fly around tha pattern nowadays if the clouds are scattered and have my County map with me. That is an age related thing. I don't want to have to buy another log book. :) :)

I would love to have that plane......so I could sell it on Barnstormers and buy 4 Chiefs and 2 Champs.

A couple of years ago my brother and I went up to Yakima for one of the annual Cub Crafter's open house weekends. They do a nice facility tour then everyone meets at a grass strip a few miles south and get demo rides. They actually put on a heck of a weekend with dinner and snacks and booze afterwards. The Sport Cub is definitely not an attempt to recreate nostalgia. They have taken the LSA rule and purpose built an aircraft based on the Piper Super Cub that will fit into that catagory and achieve all of the maximum allowed numbers. If you've got an envelope, you may as well fill it. They also have an awesome, state of the art production facility. Finally, they have a pretty good demographic base for potential customers. The typical Sport Cub buyer is a fairly well to do (they are, after all, going for around $130k) retired gentleman who is most likely looking at possibly failing a third class medical in the near future.

So they Sport Cub is a pretty nice airplane, it's fun to fly and performs very well. But it's not for guys like me who like to bring old decrepit machines back from the brink of near death and restore them to their former glory. Or who, for a hundred and thirty grand would expect a house with a decent plot of land around it rather than a flimsy collection of tubes, fabric, aluminum and steel.

But like I said, the customer base is out there for both worlds - to each his own.

If you get a chance, drop in for their open house - I think it's next month. They will welcome any old taildragger and probably Ercoupes too! They are a good group who share the basic love of aviation.

I like how a pair of adel clamps holds the panel in.

Jerry makes a good point. The regulatory body for the LSA aircraft are the manufacturers. If you ding your new CUB and the manufacturer says no repair is allowed on the fuselage then you replace the fuselage. AC 43.13 can't be used because its not a Federally regulated aircraft. The Federal regulations don't apply.
If ACA could get the empty weight down on the 7EC to the LSA requirements they wouldn't have to build to Part 23.
