Wing Drawings

Does anyone have a set of wing drawings with, or can point me to a source for the accurate placement of the ribs? We're rebuilding a set of 7AC wings with brand new spars, and I don't trust the old, homemade ones for the location of the ribs. The compression members and drag wire locations looked ok but the rib locations were pretty "scooby-wompus".

Get me the number of the drawings and if the NAA has them in their collection I can email them to you.

Look on Todd Trainor's site (google him and Aeronca) and if he does not have them we usually do.

Thanks Joe - trouble is I don't know what that drawing number is. I was hoping the dimensions would be on the wing drawing in the Service manual, but they aren't. I'll see what I can find though. Thanks!

Dan, you need 7-439 to get started. With Aeronca's, the part number is the print number. Take it to a print shop and get it printed out at least 36 inches wide. You will find lot's of info. Todd does have it on his site. All the NAA guys can help you also. Everyone want's to see you have a lot of fun and end up with a great restoration. Be careful with 2-697, it's the brace for the trailing edge on the inboard of the aileron. If you use the dimension on the print, the aileron cable will rub the brace. Should be between 1" and 1.25" max. David J.

Thanks David. I just ordered a copy of the DVD and made a donation. I don't know how the existence of that DVD got by me... Is that drawing (7-439) scalable? I'm guessing that if I start with a known dimension that I can measure the rib spacing off of it.

Dan, you don't have to worry about measuring off the drawing. All the dimensions are listed. You can go ahead and download the drawing to keep from waiting. David J.

Just emailed you the blueprint. There is an index on Todd's website as well as on the DVD.

Thats why I mentioned to go there and look as it will tell you which blueprints you need. Anything that is not listed on the index please get ahold of one of us at the NAA and there is a good chance we might have it.

Thanks for the drawing, Joe. That's exactly what I needed! I wasn't really familiar with Todd Trainor's DVD project but I just ordered a copy. I can always get my questions answered here!
