In Illinois I was directed by the state DOT to register my pilot's license and pay a registration for using IL airports. I pushed back by saying that I did not have a pilot's license (it is an airman's certificate) and that I did not use public airports. I never paid, but I don't live there anymore.

In Georgia you pay a registration if you have an N number. It does not matter if the plane is a restoration project or if it is a kit which is not flying yet.

In Texas where I am now they leave me pretty much alone.

Mark,

Excellent footwork! Bastards try to tax you for everything and frankly am getting tired of it.

Used to live in Texas and there is a lot to be said for the way they do things there.

Here in Oklahoma the yearly tax is based on the plane's gross weight. My Champ, at the bottom end of the scale, costs $10.00.

Less not more govt and keep your nose out of my business. The way it was in 1920-1930 (except for the depression) was a pretty good life. Lets return to that way of things.
How about 1923, before anyone even need a Pilot's License! I vote for that.
