Aeronca, et al for sale
I've bought a project Porterfield 35-70 from a woman in Tennessee. Her husband recently passed away, leaving a few airplanes that were acquired over the years. He has a flying Porterfield 35W, a Funk and finally a 7BCM. If there are people in the Aeronca group who truly looking for a plane to purchase, please email me and I'll pass on your information. She's a sweet a lady but her loss is still upsetting so I would like to provide names of those who have genuine interest as any discussion about the planes includes memories of her husband.
Let me know if any of you interested.
Tx,
Carl Prather

Re: Aeronca, et al for sale
Jeff,
Here's the first set of pics. I spoke to her again this evening and found that is a new windshield, new wing struts, new ribs, new wing tanks. The fuselage has been gone through and is rust free.
The engine is zero TSMOH. For a project, this seems to be pretty good start.

Joe,
The guy was an airline pilot who passed away a few months back and left his wife with a fleet of old planes. I thought someone in the group might find the Aeronca worthwhile. The plane is essentially at the assembly stage right now.

How much time is on the engine? I assume its an A-65? Do you know the "neighborhood" of what they desire to get out of this project?

Ball park price would be good. I'm in the market for one to fly, but a good project is hard to resist.

Mike,
It looks like a new engine. And it's a C85-8.

Re: Aeronca, et al for sale
Gang,
Paul has it right. It's a zero time C-85-8. I think for as a project, it seems to be a very good start. For you folks who are truly interested just email me for her name and phone number. She's a pretty resilient lady but talking about planes and her husband can be tough. It seem like it was everything to the two of them. Her husband taught her to fly, so she's a fellow tail dragger pilot
Remember it's an L-16, Let me know,
Carl

Carl,
Are you aware of an inventory list for this aircraft? It will be difficult to arrive at a value without knowing what is missing. Thanks, Dudley
