Re: Paint Schemes for pre ware chiefs
There used to a guy named John Houser from Aeronca that could get them. I too am at a stage where I'd like to find out some colors and schemes for two pre-war Chiefs.
Does anyone know if Mr. Houser is still around or if there's anyone at the factory that could help us with their old records?

John Houser is still around, and was at the last fly in at Middletown.
That said he has been sick in the past and at times is not in the best of shape.
Jenny, his daughter is helping him. Might try to get ahold of her and see what he can do for you.

Thanks Rafael, that's great.
I'm still trying to get in touch with John Houser or his daughter. Have emailed a couple times, nothing yet, if anyone has an address I could try a letter.

Re: Paint Schemes for pre ware chiefs
I painted my 1941 pre-war in the "f" scheme. I tried polytone and then used aerothane. Much nicer finish. I wished that I had a picture of it when it was manufactured.
