Finishing a set of interior panels at the door assembly, had to shorten the height 3/16". Have question about the tubing notches, are the tubes in that area at angles from the floor to the door.
Can someone post pictures of this area!
Thank You
Charles
Interior Panels
Re: Interior Panels
These are the panels that I have questions about. Moving the bottom flange up 3/16" would change the depth of the cutouts (two half moon) in the panel?
The other panel with the side cutout, would it change in relation to the modification?

Re: Interior Panels
Do the hems on the back of the panels lock together when installed?

Re: Interior Panels
Charles, if you had to shorten the panels 3/16" look close at the vertical tube from the front gear attach up to the bottom of the instrument panel. Everyone is seeing this tube damaged from landing loads. It will drop the RF wing attach as well. You can sight along the front and rear spar carry-thru and pick up any differences real quick. Re: Interior Panels
The measurement from the center of the wing attach bolt hole to the center of the strut attach bolt hole should be 48 1/2 inch (according to Bill Pancake). Generally you don't see the damage until the boot cowl is off.

The issue here is that the previous owner of the plane put it back together with a good 1/4 inch of felt under the floorboards before selling it to Robert Henley. Then Robert tried to get everything to fit and it would not as the sheetmetal was made for a airplane without the felt.
This is where the change is and not any issue with fuselage tubing.

PS we tried like the dickens to get the panels to fit, then looked closer and noticed the felt and the "ahh ha" moment occured.
