Oil Temperature Gauge

I have the original Aeronca Tachometer + Oil Temperature + Oil Pressure gauge in the middle of my panel.

The Tach and Oil Pressure work. The temp gauge doesn't the line from the gauge to the oil sump is intact.

Can the sensor bulb be replaced? Or does this require removal and refurbishment of the entire gauge assembly?

Dan,
The bulb and tube can be repaired. The gauge can be removed, some are loaded from the back and held in by a coulpe of sheetmetal screws. Put it in your coffee cup and see if it reads about 200 degrees.

I am looking for one of these gauges for my '39 65LA. If anyone knows where I can find one, please let me know.

Putting your temp sensor in a coffee cup won't do much for you if you don't add coffee to the cup. Sorry, but you never know.

The temp bulb repairs are not done at most shops, but are 'sent out' to specialty shops who do those repairs. Keystone and Otto instruments do the certification services, but the repairs are not theirs- from what I understand. Hence the long lead times. Classic Aero uses vendors in Michigan, Arkansas, and Ohio with the special equipment/processes for repairing these. Turn time is about 3 weeks.
