Joe,

The sad thing is not seeing much mention of Pearl Harbor in the News. It seemed more like a nod to history when it could arguably be the most important event in American history in the last 100 years. Going from a child hearing countless stories from the grown ups to having hard time finding someone to share their story is bit unsettling. They were and, for the few, are "The Greatest Generation" of Americans.

Carl,

Totally agree. That and the news media now trying to turn Christmas into "holiday time" with no mention of Christ really does not make me happy. Am tired of the news media trying to change our outlook on life and important things in our world.

On a good note, I watch the Military Channel a lot and yesterday was an entire day of "Pearl Harbor" theme'ed programs! They clearly have not forgotten.

Also, the History Channel had a good program on Pearl Harbor featuring some of the veterans. The local TV station did a feature on our local retired judge who was an 11 year old boy at Pearl and watched the whole attack. Pretty interesting. He said the Japanese planes were low and close enough that he could see the expression on the pilots faces and one of the rear gunners swung the machine gun around toward him until he ducked out of the way!!!
