Champ Auxiliary Fuselage Tank

How was the fuel from the Aux tank transferred to the main tank? I am curious.

How was the fuel from the Aux tank transferred to the main tank? I am curious.

The main tank at that time on top of the front pilots knees under the boot cowl, and fuel from the aft tank did the same thing as the Chief aux tank, open the petcock and it used gravity to flow to the main tank.

Here's some pictures of a fuselage tank. I've seen only tow for sale in the past 4 years and bought this one.
I'm the hoping the pictures will paste correctly as they show only the URLs right now.
One of the pictures shows a bit of Paul, a 767 lead mechanic over a crew of 12 at United.
They don't do last suppers, they do big airplanes and use the roach coach!

Very interesting. I've never seen one for a a Champ. What's that green stuff on the ground under the tank? Everything up here is still white .

What you guys saw was our Winter foliage. It stays until April and then turns a golden brown.

There are some brackets that clamp to the tubes for the straps and a small wood backing plate. This whole assembly looks like factory floor engineering. I can see why not many planes were fitted with this tank.
It is cool tho'.

This is not the factory fuselage tank for a Champ that I am familiar with. The one I am used to is round or a triangle, and bolts to the airframe behind the baggage compartment up high.

Aeronca 7AC drawing 7-565 shows the installation drawing for this tank. I've never seen one until I bought this. The fuel gauge looks just like the 12 gallon main tank. I just don't how anyone would expect a pilot to read the darn thing!

Then on any post, go right below the "post a reply" section and there is a "IMG" button.

Press that and you get this:
