Why is our country bankrupt

Post by joea »

Do not know about you guys but this perturbs me greatly!

Joe A

~~~~~
A Real Eye Opener
WHY is the USA BANKRUPT?
Informative, and mind boggling!
You think the war in Iraq was costing us too much?  Read this:
We have been hammered with the propaganda that it was the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us.
I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times at the reader gets sick of reading them.
I also have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts...
~~~~

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.

Verify at: http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?p ... enters7fd8

2.  $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

Verify at: http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.HTML

3. 2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

Verify at: http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.HTML

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

Verify at: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANscriptS/ ... t..0..HTML

5.  $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

Verify at http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANscriptS/ ... dt.01.HTML

6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

Verify at: http://transcripts.cnn.com/%20TRANscrip ... dt.01.HTML

7.  30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.

Verify at: http://transcripts.CNN.com/TRANscriptS/ ... dt.01.HTML

8.  $90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

Verrify at: http://premium.cnn.com/TRANSCIPTS/0610/29/ldt.01.HTML

9.  $200 Billion dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

Verify at: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSC%20RI% ... dt.01.HTML

10.  The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens.  In particular, their children are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US

Verify at: http://transcripts.cnn..com/TRANscriptS/0606/12/ldt..01.HTML
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANscriptS/ ... %3E;%A0%A0

The total cost is a whopping$ 338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR AND IF YOU'RE LIKE ME, HAVING TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY; IT IS $338,300,000,000.00 WHICH WOULD BE ENOUGH TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY FOR THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY.

I usually don't respond to these things, 'cause they just make me tired. Usually, you can check out these sorts of viral emails at snopes.com, but this one hasn't made it up there yet. But FactCheck.org has a page on it (a neutral and very useful resource for checking what politicians say and debunking propaganda):

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/04/cost-o ... mmigrants/

But I thought people might also be interested in a report by the Cato Institute (a conservative think tank, libertarian, actually) on the benefits of immigration, illegal or otherwise. If you don't want to read the whole thing, the bottom line is that 75% of illegal aliens have taxes withheld and legalizing them could help our economy by about $180 billion.

http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=10658#16

But you don't have to read the fact checking to know something smells funny in that email. $200 billion in suppressed wages? That's more than half the total right there and I don't even know what that means. Suppressed wages?!

I don't know why we are so gung ho on finding some kind of boogeyman to blame for things. I guess it's easier than taking a look at ourselves.

And just for the record, the Iraq war has cost $700 billion in direct costs so far (not even counting Afghanistan according to Wikipedia) with a total fiscal impact estimated in the several trillions.

There's certainly no shortage of stuff to be pretty disturbed about lately, it seems to me, but I guess I have to count these sorts of viral emails as one of them, myself.

The cost of the two wars is OVER TWO TRILLION dollars. This includes Billions stolen from us in both Iraq and Afgahnistan, replacing all Military- Nat. Guard equipment worn out, Billions paid to people like KBR, Halliburton, Blackwater, etc. etc. and on and on.(How about fuel cost for all of this?) Not to mention the tremendous cost of care for those Americans wounded and disabled for life from these two fiascos. Now we are supposed to support a no fly zone over Libya, which would eventually lead to ground troops. Let the British or French do it! Or better yet, let Saudi Arabia do it! (We have done a poor job in both Iraq and Afgahistan for OVER 10 YEARS!) I'm totally against giving ANY money or education money to illegal aliens. I AM in favor of LEGAL immigration of people screened for their ability to CONTRIBUTE to our society, rather than the poorly educated, or criminal element that we have taken in currently. (I mow my own lawn.) Bush had 8 years to close the border and secure the country. He did nothing. Nor has the current administration. We must remember that Ellis Island was set up to SCREEN prospective entrants. If you did not have a trade, if you were ill, you were sent back to where you came from. The ones who entered legally built this country to what it became in the 50's 60's and 70's. TERM LIMITS! JP

Whether the numbers are right or wrong, it is a consistant gripe of mine that we make taxpayers subsidize illegal aliens. I've paid hundreds of thousands in income tax over the years and haven't recieved any direct subsidy , whereas illegals recieve money, medical services, food subsidies, and on and on and they've never paid a dime of income tax.

Go figure.

As a part time school bus driver I see a number of Mexican kids riding the bus. Usually from the local trailer park. Mostly the parents work at our larger diary farms or the Ashley furniture factory. I've asked some employers if they're actually 'legal' and the answer I get is 'they have the necessary papers' to be working here. I'm not sure that's always the case though as more than once there have been traffic accidents and those who were in the car ran off into the woods or corn fields. So you can read between the lines. On one hand, I feel for the parents and their kids as they seem to be hardworking and only want a better life and, in general, are nice people. On the other hand, I blame the politicians and have to ask the question (I have by the way) "What is it about illegal you don't understand??. If you even get a response (which is seldom) it's "We need to have a comprehensive immigration policy, blah blah blah blah. ". When the word "comprehensive" is put in there you can bet nothing will be done. Oh! and the other response you get is"We're working on a jobs bill (or something) right now". Does that mean those idiots can't handle more than one task at a time??

By the way JC, the national debt is now over 14 trillion dollars if I read it correctly. Much of it since Obama came into office. Somehow I don't think Obama's 'stimulus plan' is working and I haven't heard him say 'squat' about the gas prices. Seems like that was a big issue with the libs when old George was in, who I also had a couple of issue with like "STOP THE SPENDING PLEASE".

My rant for the day now got to work on the project.

The Republicans won’t do anything about illegal immigration because big business (lobby) is making too much money off of the cheap labor.

The Democrats won’t do anything because they want the voter base.

Ron,

Thats why its in "off topic" where almost anything can be discussed. We even allow talking about Pipers here so its almost wide open.

Pretty soon it'll spiral clear out of control and we'll be talking about Luscombes and Taylorcrafts. What is this place coming to?
