I have an AirTex interior for my prewar Chief. I have no idea how it is supposed to install. Anyone know? This question has been overtaken by events--AirTex sent me the wrong interior--its for a SuperChief but they're currently making me the proper one (very good people to deal with!)
Does anyone have a notion of what the "bows" looked like or the interior in a '39 C-50 Chief looked like? Did the '39 have a skylight or has been added to my airplane? Clyder
INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
Re: INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
See if you can find someone who has a pre-war airplane who can sent you photos of theirs.
Re: INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
I have '41 prewar chief. Mine had several welded wires attached to fuselege tubes with which the headliner was glued to. The front is attached with thumb tacks so that you could drop the headliner down to inspect the flight control cables.
There was no skylight on my a/c

Thanks, Richard. I suspected mine had the skylight added sometime in its past. Any way you could take a picture of the interior, particularly the headliner? Clyde
Re: INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
Clyde, I made a mistake. About a dozen years ago, I purchased a headliner for my 41' prewar chief from a/c spruce. It didn't match the headliner wires. It was for a 38' or 39 chief. I purchased another from airtex and it fit perfectly. I found the other headliner today and you can have it if you want. The glued attachment fabric pieces are in different locations than my 41'

I thought I'd posted a reply so if you get two chalk it up to an old man's shaky hands, Richard. I'd be delighted if you could mail it to me and I'll gladly pay you for it and the shipping. My address is Clyde Robbins, 221 Greenough Road, Troy PA 16947
Re: INTERIOR FOR '39 AERONCA CHIEF
Clyde;
I'll send the headliner to you today. It needs to be cleaned as it has been sitting in a box for over 12 years. It is stamped for 39' prewar chief. You can just have it as I have no use for it. Glad to have more pre-war's flying.

Thanks, Richard. That's very kind of you--cleaning is the least of my worries. I hope to have it flying again by spring. Clyde
