Where is L-16 N1866M

Post by williamc »

Does anyone have any idea where L-16A N1866M S/N 47-861 is now located. It was once in the Houston, Texas area. Any clue will be appreciated.

Thanks for the response Dick. I've learned that the registered owner, Norman Simmonds, died December 2 1995 in Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City Texas. His obituary lists children in San Diego,California and Durango, Colorado. I've tried to contact any one of them but so far have been unsuccessful. I've been doing a serial number search on these planes and this one jumped out as a mystery waiting to be solved. I'm hoping that someone who has knowledge of the plane will respond. Thanks again and have a great day.

Thanks to all on the forum,
I received a response from the son of the registered owner of N1866M. He told me the plane was destroyed by a windstorm and sold off as parts. That means there's one less L-16A out there.
