Cross Country

Post by vintageair »

I finally had some time to take my Champ on a decent x-country trip from Byron CA to Cedar City UT - 1150 miles, 17.2 hours on the Hobbs and about 100 gallons of avgas. There was a fire in central Utah and when I got to the airport for an early morning departure on Sunday I found this parked next to me - uncanny resemblance don't you think?

It was a fun trip but you gotta watch the winds out there. The day after I left for home it was blowing 57 mph at Cedar city!

Those are some great pictures. Seeing geologic landforms from above like this while flying made me study geography. The landforms created by the basin and range and the Colorado river channel can be stunning.
