I am interested in a well thought out design for a Chief Rudder lock. There are commercial ones of course. Just thought I would ask the group here if they had any ideas for this need.

Rudder Lock fo Chief
Re: Rudder Lock fo Chief
I just use two pieces of 1" x 2" with old firehose (got a length or worn hose from the local fire department) to cover each piece on the side that will contact the fabric and have a bolt and wing nut on both end to secure.

1 by 4 boards, lined with foam on the inside, with two bolts which are covered with vinyl tubing, which
can go over the top of the rudder and vert stab. It's worked for fifteen years just fine.

Re: Rudder Lock fo Chief
Just for closure--I built up a Rudder lock assembly along the lines suggested and it works fine.
I haven't finished with matching paint on the wood parts but am using it for it's purpose anyway. Photos will follow when I can.
Thanks to the responders for your help.
