Oshkosh Meetups?

For those going to Oshkosh, any plans for a general Meetup?
I'll be down in Vintage Camping most of the week and host under the wing anyone who brings me a cold frosty beer.

I have not looked at the detailed schedules yet, but in the past few years we have been meeting at 9:00 on tuesday at the NAA booth in the Vintage barn and then have taken a photo in front of Ray Johnson's Chief. Will this work this year?

I'll be there although unsure what day. Hope to fly the L16 instead of my Ranger pickup for a change.

God willing and the creek doesn't rise, I will arrive on Wednesday the week before and camp in the north 40. Usually at the end of roll 506 or there abouts. I will be in the 235, n8741w.

I am looking forward to meeting this bunch. I've owned a Champ 28 years and just upgraded to one Mr Pancake rebuilt in the mid 90s. I won't be without an Aeronca!!!

Anyone flying in from the west and needing a stop (overnight or other) on the way to OSH is welcome at 3WN9 about 150 miles west of Oshkosh. I'm unsure of my Oshkosh schedule at this time but there should be enough flying club members to cook up some brats, etc for any overnighters. Airport info at AIRNAV (3WN9) and send me a PM on this site if interested and I'll take care of the details.
Easy 1 1/2 hour flight to OSH from there (even in a Champ or Chief)

I had a quick trip to Oshkosh in the L16. Arrived later in the week on Thursday morning and left on Saturday. Great weather and not too hot. Apparently missed "Sloshkosh" for a change. Not much of a camper but made do with my new (larger) tent and sleeping bag. Had a nice visit with Bill Pancake and Saundera and also Brian working the Aeronca table. I wanted to buy a few items, nuts bolts, etc. but the baggage compartment was more than full so I came home with more money if nothing else.

The arrival and departure was a 'no brainer' except there must have been more than one 'yellow tail dragger' on approach as my wife was watching the web cam at home and heard me ask the controller "Are you talking to me?" as I was cleared to land on 18L.

I used to walk everywhere but have finally given up and ride the trams for the longer distances (like to the north 40 and Friar Tucks for a frosty mug at the end of the day).

The only downside .........I had my wing camera attached to capture the approach in from Fisk and landing and I forgot to turn it on .

That's a real nice set of pictures you posted.
I had to look at the ones from Havre and Cut Bank Montana. I haven't been to either one of those places in quite a few years. I believe Cut Bank was a B-17 training base in WWII.

Looks like hungry horse dam. Did you plan on flying that far North?

Yes, that is the shortest and easiest route through the mountains. Even if you stop in Kalispell, you can be in Cut Bank, MT for lunch, and the entire rest of the way across the country can be flown low enough to see the farms and duck most of a head wind if that is whats happening. I only fly higher if still flying in the afternoon and need altitude to get smooth air. Four easy days from the Coast to Oshkosh.

I truly enjoyed your photos, particularly those taken while flying the Columbia River Gorge. My wife and I vacationed in the Northwest about three years ago and saw many of the same sights, but from the ground. It liked your Oshkosh photos too. Thanks for posting the one of my neighbor's yellow Stinson.
