Rising Fe (Iron) ppm in Oil Analysis

Post by pablo »

My A65 Continental has 648 hrs since overhaul. During the first 375 hrs the Iron level stayed below 34ppm (July 2009). A gradual rise of Iron to 279 ppm (Aug 2013) aprox. 275 hrs later has been observed. Oil changed every 20-25hrs, no chips noted on screen, compression above 72 in all cylinders, and no noticeable change on performance. My engine shop has no suggestions. Any of you have suggestions or advise? Thanks,

Pablo

Pablo,
That's a little high. You might be getting some rust in the engine. Try changing the oil at 50hrs or 3mo. One place easy to check is the rocher shafts. The shaft will work its way out and rub on the valve covers. Shorten the analasis times see if it improves.
