N1120H goes back to Canada

Well after 2 years, my contribution to getting N1120H flying again has come to a close. The new owner is located in Manitoba, Canada and he is well versed in bringing Aeroncas back to life. I really wanted to be the one to make this plane fly again, but I just can't justify the remaining investment when I already have a Cessna 170 that is flying today.

I still love the Sedan and I know ultimately this is the best thing for the airplane! The new owner is excited about getting it all finished up and putting it on floats. He drove 2 days down to pick it up, and took 3 more to get home. You wouldn't believe how small the trailer was that we managed to fit the plane on, but it made it all the way back without incident.

Here is a photo of the proud new owner (on the left) and me on the right. Don't mind the duct tape on the windows. We didn't want to install the new ones I had, so we pieced together the old broken ones just to protect the interior on the 3 day drive from CA to Canada. The C-GRZA registration was what the plane had when it was in Canada in 1978-99, and was under the vinyl N numbers I removed.

I am sorry to see you let the project and the plane's original registration go, again. But I understand your decision which certainly wasn't an easy one. Have fun and always safe flights in your Cessna 170!

As far as I know the new owner has not been on the bulletin board but hope that he chimes in sometime!

Hi Joe!

They made it up to Manitoba in one piece. They drove for four days and sent me this pic of the Sedan in snow.

I sent their info off to Matt S so that 15AC-136 can still be updated in his registry. Hopefully the new owner hops on here as you mentioned. He said he is going to spend the winter putting it back together and on floats, so maybe he's just really busy?

I haven't heard from the new owner either. According to the Canadian aircraft register 15AC-136 is not registered, yet. C-GRZA has been assigned to a Series 600 Challenger, manufactured in 2012 and (still) owned by Bombardier. Wonder, what the Sedan's new letters will be.

Great news! Over the past 2 years 3 months, the Canadian owners who bought N1120H (SN #136) did a great job of fixing her up she flew again today under her old Canadian registration C-GRZA.

Doesn't she look great on skis?

How about visiting the new owners and asking them, if they let you try out the Sedan on skis yourself?

That would be a dream come true...it would be a long haul from San Francisco to Manitoba in my Cessna 170B but it's not out of the realm of possibility!
