Brackett BA-154 filter

Has anyone gotten a field approval to install Brackett kit BA-154 on their Champ? If so may I obtain a copy of the approved 337 ? I am planning to try to get approval to install it on my plane and could all the help I can get.

Paul,

No I do not have 337 on a Brackett BA-154.

Question: What airplane uses a BA-154?
I have looked at Aircraft Spruce, Wicks, Univair, Wag Aero and Chief. Nobody has a BA-154.
I finally downloaded Brackett Aero Filters Inc. Catalog. Not listed.
Help!

BA-154 is Brackett's unapproved filter for the 7-11 series. Hopefully it will eventually wind up on their STC.

The kit they used to sell has the Cessna 120/140 filter that fits into the airbox just fine, with a little screen behind it and a grill in front. Minor modification to the
existing air filter assembly and a sample 337 for a go by to fill one out for the feds. It was/is a BA-4108 filter element. Not an issue.

) the answer is the 4106 filter fits pretty well on the Champ/Chief air box. However it's only approved for the 7ACA Bellanca. Having said that I've seen dozens on Champs and Chiefs over the years. Think I even owned one once

. They work just fine. I was talking with my IA today and he told me everything that used to be approved for a 337 by the local FSDO now has to go through Chicago engineering in our area. I had a number of 337's approved on my L16 by the local FSDO but that route no longer exists according to him. If fact, he sent recently sent a 337 through for one of the Champs on our field to install the Cessna 150 exhaust system on the A65. This is a very common modification to increase the cabin and carb heat along with silencing. He also included approved 337's along with the paperwork but it took several months for approval where couple of year ago it might have taken a week.

So it goes..........

Scotty is still here but no longer doing any work. While I never see a FAA type in Salome, I'm the IA signing off my plane and if possible I'd like to do it right.

Paul, can you use Ac 23-27 as your justification? It provides more flexibility with parts for the older planes.
