Re: 1941 Aeronca CA65 wheel pants
I made a plate that secures to the welded flange on the bottom of the axle shaft using three of the bolt holes. It's about 2 inches wide and extends about 4 inches forward and aft of the axle. At the ends of the plate I put in a nut plate to secure the wheel pant. The outer side I made a tube to slide in the axle and secured by the cotter pin for the wheel. So it gets secured by two 10/32 screws on the inside and one on the outside. Very secure and has been working well. If your little Chief has the tapered axle, this set-up will need a different outside attachment.
