Tail position light bulb
Aircraft is a '58 Champion 7FC/EC with the "Flash Gordon" type nav lights shaped like a 1930's space ship. Anyway the tail light is a different bulb, has two contacts with a dedicated ground wire because it's mounted on the rudder. I can't read the number on it. Does anyone know what it is?

It could be a #1176 if it is a 12 volt model. You can find the bulbs by attachment style, voltage and lumens.

Thanks Paul, looking at picture of GE1176 on eBay it looks like dual element such as a tail/stop or turn light meaning both terminals would be positive and ground through base. Other pictures show single element. Maybe I can just find one at O’Reillys and see.

That's correct, check any information you might have on the light, and any replacement bulbs required. If there is no recommendation for bulbs find one that meets your needs and install it as a "standard part". Not all items are, or required to have any certification basis.
