Hooker Bolt-in shoulder harness set for Chiefs available

Post by Guest »

Hooker Harness has the New (long awaited) Shoulder Harness package designed for Post war Aeronca Chiefs avalable.
[Hooker Harness. (815) 233-5478 ]
It's a complete Bolt-in shoulder harness package designed to comply with FAA; ACE-00-23.561-01 and needs only a log book entry.
If your going to SUN & FUN check out their booth. I'm told Jack is going to try and present the new set-up at the Aeronca forum too.
I think most eveyone here knows Hookers and their 1st class reputation... and this Chief set-up looks to be the same.

Anyone going to SUN and FUN ?

Could someone going to Sun and Fun take a look this new shoulder harness kit and let us know what they think?

Al Nase, a fellow Chief owner will be at SNF and hopefully get back to us with more information on this. Here is the information I have on it so far:

Go to www.hookerharness.com for current info. I have seen several of their "Y" harness installations. The FAA is not too fussy now about a STC approval, as they decided "anything has to be better than nothing."

They can be approved by FAA-337 form per AC 43.13-2A, as long as the belts themselves are PMA approved. Also, Wag Aero lists FAA-PMA belts for Aeronca's, & has a STC kit for the Champ.

I am doing the Owens STC for a A75-8 in the champ and during this time I bought the Wag-aero STC and harness front and back. Will follow up on the install, already have headliner in but should be able to work around it. Hope to be back in the air in 3-4 weeks.

I know this is a old post but does anyone have some know how? pics? or any info on the installation and kit they used to put the Y shoulder harness in their Pre War Aeronca? I have a 1941 65CA and would like to install these.

Nearly everyone was at the 19th Biennial Convention so this may take awhile to get an answer. There have been several threads here and elsewhere that have pictures of how others have conquered the attachment issue in Chiefs. Bill Pancake had an attachment he fabricated to solve the problem. I am a bit short on time today, but will endeavor to browse around and see what is still avaiable. You might want to give Bill a call 304-788-1974 Eastern Time Zone 9AM to 5PM

Did anyone find a solution for the Chief? Thinking about adding them but the Hooker website didn’t specifically mention 11AC Chiefs. Just looking to see if there was a harness and bracket solution available for purchase before reaching out to Mr Pancake.
