Stits polyfibre

Post by brink »

I’ve been reading a lot of posts, on fabric from repairs to Blankets to Presewn envelopes, fabric bowing on top of the wing in flight between ribs, even fabric bowing on tail surfaces. Personally and not to offend, You need to let the fabric cool down and let the fibers relax. Then do a reshrink, take your time indoing this process, cover it with a clean bed sheet and let it sit, I’ve let it set for up to a week, you can see the difference from Bay to Bay, apply heat where needed. Poly brush the first coat is very important to get good penetration into the weave. I think the polybrush causes a little shrinkage, when dry. I thump it and when I hear the same tone from Bay to Bay I know it’s just right, mind you just my opinion, and not to offend. A lot of people have different ways to do this,

I understand what guys are saying maybe Stewart is a better system, I do wear a breather mask any time I use the Poly fibre cover material, and the Polyfibre sewn envelopes have issues, but the issues are with the installer not the product, taking your time and following the Polyfibre and AC 43-13 the envelopes work, again ain’t nothing easy especially when your in your 70s, still fun stuff on my last project!
