Stewarts System
Stewarts System
Wish me luck, I have a extra set of Champ wings with ailerons. I have started the recovering process on the first aileron. I am a total newbie to recovering. This will be under the supervision of my mechanic, he has a lot of fabric exsperience but not with Stewarts. So far so good, I've got the first covered and shrunk thru the 250,300, 350F as indicated.I plan on using the pancake rivet STC to hold down the fabric. My plan is to take this aileron thru the entire process, including topcoat. This will be my testbed before I move on to the wing.
Re: Stewarts System
Have fun doing your wings. I have only owned one fabric aircraft that had Stewart System Covering. Almost did not buy it when the A&P who did the pre-buy said that based on the amount of light that went through the fabric there was not enough UV protection. I called and checked with Stewart and was told that was being seen was not an issue and that it would be fine. Never had an issue with it post purchase.

Re: Stewarts System
When I cover the wing I will be able to tell by looking thru an inspection panel, if it needs more than the 3 cross coates of Eckofill, ill apply another cross coat. I won't be able to tell on the aileron.
