AOL and this bulletin board

Post by joea »

Just walked a NAA member through the hassle of using AOL and this board. It seems that you cannot work with AOL and use many of the bulletin boards on the internet, this one included.

After we figured it out it was very simple. Log onto the internet using AOL, then click on the "_" underscore button on the top right of the window to minize AOL. Then go to "Start" "Programs" and click on "Internet Explorer" and open it. After this opens then type in "www.aeroncapilots.com/NewForum.htm" and go from there.

When we did it using AOL it logged him in twice and he could not post, and was very frustrating. Now he was able to make his first post without any problems and a lot easier than with AOL.

Hope this helps!

Jerry,

You will not find another person who agrees with you more! I have several of my friends still using AOHell and its the worse ISP there is.

Took almost an hour on the phone to help the guy above before we dumped their built in browser and opened IE and it worked immediately.

Thanks for your support and fly safe!

WHINE WHINE WHINE.
Sounds like the Ford Chevy Whine.
Nosewheels, Tailwheels, I don't care. They both have there place. Sometimes, one is better then the other under certain circumstances.
I have one of each, and Yes, one is a Champ.
And for little girls, I have two. Both have grown up and one has given me a four year old Grand-Daughter that is just PRICELESS. Yes, I'm on AOL.
Yes, I've tried others and came back to AOL. NO, AOL has not given me any problems on this site. This new site gave me a few problems, but it wasn't AOL. I'm Retired, Old, and don't like change, so computers give me fits, not AOL.
End.

Hi Don,

Agree totally with you and this response is being sent via 'AOL'- no problems for me either. Great to have choices!

Glad someone is happy with is as AOL users are the only ones who have had any problems logging onto this bulletin board.

Re the nosewheel, I fly one with a nosewheel on a daily basis for a living and the tailwheel airplane is still better. To each his own...

Yet one more valid reason why AOL's world HQ should be anhillated by a B-83 airburst at maximum yield.

Lord knows we've got plenty of 'em sitting around...

Sniper,

How about delivering a few of those puppies to:

N35 41.4 E 051 18.8 or
N28 56.7 E 050 50.1

Sure that they will understand the meaning of the message after digging themselves out!

Good to see you on the board!

Everyone,

I have had two personal messages from members who were having problems posting on this board.

So far both of these members were using AOL and we are wondering if this is the problem.

If anyone is having problems posting can they pls try going on the board using IE or Firefox that is not imbedded in AOL first and if the problem is still there, then let us know?

Thanks,

Joe

Need to drag out this old thread. Is there anyone on the board using AOL these days? If yes, is anyone having problems?

Mike Kelley is a very active member is still on AOL and has been doing just fine for the last several years on the NAA bulletin board. In the last weeks something has changed and it keeps requiring him to log into each page. He does so, then when he wants to post he hits the "submit button" and it knocks him out, asking him to log in again, and deleting all of what he has written. His sense of humor is done with it and can understand why.

We have not changed ONE THING with the bulletin board in over 2 years, so do not believe that its our site, but wanted to see if anyone else is having issues. If they are and are having problems posting, please email me directly at: joeaksa AT Attglobal.net (replace the AT with @).

I keep trying to get Mike to move away from the Internet Explorer browser that AOL uses and try something like Firefox or the like, but he is not as experienced with computers as he is with Aeronca's!

Thanks,

Joe A
