Nose Bowls, Univair vs. Wag-Aero...???

Post by jkvincent »

Nose Bowls ...what's with this? Univair= $895., Wag-Aero= $282. ......??? Also, is there a problem with quality control at Wag-Aero, I ordered a blank instrument panel, cut the corners on it (for wing tank fuel lines & add'l wiring) and then attempted to install it, ....surprize, horrible fit, it's not tall enough and also the radius of the bend in the top of the panel is too large, so now there is not enough flat area on it to install all (planned) items. I can't go back to the original, that's not an option, it's been butchered after years of having stuff "thrown at it". ...any suggestions? thanks, Jim

Univair = Metal
Wag = Plastic

As for the panel... Bill Pancake might have some good tips on what to do. Is there a local who does metal work?

panel

Jim: I had the same problem with a replacement ip. Not even close to fitting. I have the fiberglass nose bowl on mine and it's good. In 8 years it's been on the plane, there is no signs of cracking anywhere.

Need Panel Blank

Post by jlwright »

I need to order a replacement panel for my Champ and was wondering if there is a better source than Wag-Aero. I hate starting out with something that I know is goiunf to be a problem.

Thanks

Jim, I bought my panel from Wag and, with a little trimming, it fit. I also have an original panel that someone attempted to sand blast (really pissed me off, the person should have known better). Its a little wavy.

I recieved my new panel from Wag-Aero and it looks like it will work fine. It will need a little smoothing on the top radii but I can handle that with no problem.

The new 7EC is using the same fabricators as Wag. We made some changes; so its not the same cowl now, just the same people.

Jerry, the fiberglass or aluminum. Welcome back! Had not seen any of your post for a while.
