Aeronca prop decals
Re: Aeronca prop decals
Tried to call the number above for Dick Love and it was no good.
Called Sensenich and they have some decals left from what Dick sold them, so bought enough for my prop and Gareth's three props and they should be in the mail today on their way to Guy.
Just called Guy Watson and let him know that the decals are on the way West to him along with new logbooks for 4 props.
Thanks everyone!

Whoowho!!!!
And just think that just two decades ago that would be been at least six weeks worth of letter writing, phone calls and research. A wonderful age
we live in.

Re: Aeronca prop decals
Mark,
Often when on the board I think of when I did my first Chief restoration. It started in 1979 and flew in 1981. Much help from an old friend, Marshall Field, and as well the Aeronca newsletters that various people produced way back then. Other than that, it was write a letter, wait a month and hope you would get a reply!
The ability to post something and get help for it within a day or even hours really makes a big difference.
Thanks everyone!

Was able to get some other phone numbers for Dick Love.
717 432 2975 and 717 329 4058 in case someone else needs some decals.

Joe,
I checked on your props today. All should be returned airworthy. Herb should start varnishing on Saturday.

Re: Aeronca prop decals
Joe,
The props look great. A few of the leading edge screws needed replacement but other than that the wood is perfect for a prop of that age. Herb didn't mention anything about the decals so I would assume they have them.
Remember that the prop shop is an annex of the museum. So put a notation on your payment with reference to a donation.

Re: Aeronca prop decals
Paul,
Thanks and sent you an email about it 10 minutes ago!
Someone from the museum called, not Herb but someone else with the museum and a first name starting with "H." He must not have talked with Herb or Guy as he was ready to box them up and ship them. After finding out that it would cost $75 EACH for the 5 props we decided to drive back up and get them in person.
Anyways thanks for your help and should see you guys in a couple of weeks or so.

Re: Aeronca prop decals
Joe,
They are open on Tuesday and Thursday for work days, and weekends for tours. The best time to contact them is after 10am on Tues. and Thurs. they can connect you to the prop shop. With the holidays there are fewer people around but you should be able to arrange for pick up with no problem.

Re: Aeronca prop decals
Paul,
Thanks and not concerned about pickup but we sent the $$$ for the props to the museum and were hoping that someone would be around there before 1 Jan to pick up the checks. That way we can put it on this years taxes and not next years.
Will try to call tomorrow. Called several times on Tuesday and no answer.
Thx,
Joe

Joe,
If the date on the checks is in 2010 I'm sure there should be no problem.

Re: Aeronca prop decals
To update this, I found a place that is still providing them in 2021. One place was REALLY expensive, this one is reasonable and actually cheaper the one in 2010!
