2006 Convention
It's been too long since my son and I got home, with N82780, but never too late to say "A BIG THANKS" to Jim and Company for another successful Convention. There's no question, that Mother Nature and her step child - Weather, cooperated, this year. It couldn't have been better. As always, the Air Force Museum, get's better each time, and we were treated so well, by the folks at the Aeronca factory. Sure enjoyed seeing all our Aeronca friends, and sharing the love we have for these venerable old birds. Bill Pancake for sharing his expertise. Especially those Red Necks from Georga. HI! Dave. Our Aeronca's have been given a new lease on life, with the new sport pilot catagory, which will make maintaining them easier. Although I didn't spend any time after the banquet, talking to the board members, my hat is off to all of them, also. It is good to know, efforts are afoot to preserve, and make available, all of the history and drawings. It is a monumental task, and very much appreciated. My sincerest thanks again, and hope to attend the next Convention. Keep them LOW & SLOW " Ole"

Ole, glad you all got home OK. Lloyd had fun with his L-16 down in TN. The wind was strong. Almost let it get away from him. Said his prop came within a few feet of a light. He laughed when he told me about it. He said it wasn't a big deal, It was my prop anyway! We were tickled to see you and your son, and everyone else. Most of us really needed a few days away, and to get us charged up on old airplanes again. Hope your son had fun. Going to have fun with Lloyd. We are going to tell him he may be getting a little advanced in age to be turned loose to fly by himself.....might learn a few new words when he lets loose! Hope to hear from you all soon, David J.
Glad you had a good time Ole and thanks for the kind words. Congrats on winning Best in Class Post-War Custom Aeronca! Must have been those nifty gear fairings that did it!

Brian,
Many thanks for all the photos from the Aeronca Convention. It lets those of us who couldn't make it keep in touch with the convention activiities. Looks like it was a great time with lots of Aeroncas in attendance and the weather cooperated for a change. Hopefully, I can make it one of these years. I'll check in at the type tent in Oshkosh.
