New Panel Question
New Panel Question
Does anyone have experience with a shop that can turn a "high panel" champ into a "low panel" champ...I'm interested in a couple EC's but they have the High citabria-like panel that I would like to convert to a low panel style...if anyone has any ideas I would be most appreciative.

I replaced a panel in a 7EC which had the flight instruments in the main panel and the engine instruments in an upper panel (mounted on top of the other panel). The owner wanted an IFR Champ, with the instruments in the standard 'T' layout. For a copy of the 337, go to:

A new glareshield was fabricated and installed.
The most difficult part (and it's not that difficult) was forming the panel blank. A wooden form was made, aluminum was softened by heat, then clamped between the forms and hammered to shape.

(a name would be nice!)
I have seen the installation that Scott did on this airplane and it was very nice, much better than any I have seen elsewhere. It was immaculate an very easy to work with.
If you want this mod done, there would not be a better person nor shop to do this than Nostalgaire that I know of.

I would not go so far as to say that we are solid (large in the belly perhaps) unless you are referring to my brain matter! 
This is an excellent group and I do not know of any other forum that you can find better or faster information on Aeronca's or flying old taildraggers.
The fAA (fearless Aeronca Aviators) email group is another excellent asset for Aeronca's but they do not have a forum as such, just an email group. You post an email to the group, everyone receives it and many answer. More information is here: http://mail.westmont.edu/mailman/listinfo/aeronca One concern is that at times there are a large number of emails, so be ready for lots of traffic if you join the group.
The third possibility is the Aeronca Aviators Club. They are together with the Bellanca group and also have a forum but its not anywhere near as active as this one is. They are at: www.aeronca.org.
