Ball type main fuel valve approved using a 337 with photos.

Ok everyone. Was at the Cactus fly-in here in Casa Grande AZ yesterday and while talking with a Champ owner found out something very interesting. This is very good to see as new fuel valves are not available.

He had a stock Aeronca fuel valve start to leak then sieze up. He went to his A&P who then talked to the FAA FSDO. They advised him that they would approve a ball type main fuel valve if he would write it up on a 337, which he did.

Should anyone want to see the 337, I will try to get it from him, but you can also order it directly from the FAA using the "N" number below.

I hope this doesn't take away from Cy or Carl's project to get a STC'd ball valve approved by the feds. He's been working on that project for a long time and he's due a little return on his efforts. Maybe he needs to submit the drawings to this FSDO.

I was thinking the same thing. Its been approved by the Scottsdale FSDO and this is not unusual that one FSDO will approve something that others do not even want to discuss.

Would like to see Carl's valve approved but with this 337 already approved and flying, I cannot see how it could hurt the situation.
