Aviation Academy Looking for Aeronca Project

Post by bwmatz »

The following came into the NAA mailbox. Please respond directly to Tim Smith at Tim.Smith@frankfort.kyschools.us if you can help. Thanks...

Hi,

I am the Aviation Academy Director for a high school aviation program in Frankfort , Kentucky . We are looking for an Aeronca project that our students can build under the mentorship of Aeronca/EAA owners in our area. Ken Jordan (Champ owner in Frankfort ) thought that I should send you a note. At the moment, we have a donated Continental A75 engine. All we really need to continue is an antique shell such as an Aeronca Champ. Here is a link to our program:

Would you be interested in donating to a public school district's aviation program? It would serve as a charitable deduction.

We have a high school aviation program in the Frankfort Independent Schools. It has four components.

1. Building a project with EAA members from Chapter 169. We have a donated engine (Cont. A75) and need a shell.

2. Groundschool through EAA's Aeroscholars program and simulation of practical test standards using Microsoft Flight Sim

3. Leadership - Civil Air Patrol Squadron

4. Flight (Private pilot certificate)

Our program is for students interested in moving into a commercial aviation education program when they leave high school.

Thank you for your consideration.

Tim Smith
