GATS jar fuel tester

Post by dlafave »

I am very careful about keeping my tanks full between flights and the 7AC is hangered. Imagine my surprise when the annual inspection turned up a alarming amount of water in the fuel. Recommendation was to purchase/use a GATS jar fuel tester. Comments please.

My understanding of the GATS jar is that it allows you to reuse the fuel....it seperates the fuel and water/junk. Other than that I see no reason why it would do you any better than a typical fuel tester. Just my .02.

If the gaskets on your fuel caps are not in good condition, and you are flying in any precip at all, it could be coming from there.

Thats why I asked about your fuel cap gaskets.

Never fly in precip, but I did wash it very thoroughly in the spring.
