Trim Tab Passthru

Post by DELCOM »

Hello All:

I was wondering what kind of set up a few of you had at the elevator trim tab control cable where it passes thru the L/H elevator. One cable goes below for down control and one passes thru the elevator to control up trim. I'm looking for the best solution. I had used sea plane drain grommets the first time but.................

I learned not to hang finished control surfaces from old and rotton bungee cord in the shop the hard way. One fell to the floor and landed on the outer hoop portion and slightly bent it inward thus causing my new covering to develop a loose portion to the fabric.

It's now recovered and need to reinstall the grommets or ? Any good ideas or photos would be great. I would guess the there is a dozen ways this has been done.

Thanks, Del

Both of my Champs had leather patches glues on outside the covering. About 2 - 3 inches and teardrop shaped, blunt end forward. Burn a hole through the ceconite with a soldering iron to seal the edges.

Mine had a little tube doped in. If you use a leather patch, put it under the fabric tape...
