Alternate gear (Carl Bahn's gear)

Post by WWhunter »

Has anyone heard of any progress on Carl Bahns "bungie" type gear for the Champ. The last I had heard was he was trying to get them STC'd. Not sure if that was true or not. I had coresponded with him a few years ago and was shipped to Hawaii for a few years so I wasn't in any hurry to upgrade. SInce I wasn't home during the winters I gave up the idea until I moved back home. Only time that I was flying my Champ was during the summer and it was on floats. I am now back in MN preminently and will be going on skis this next winter. From what I have read it is a better gear for ski flying. Just for reference I saw a guy bust his Champ gear this winter on skis. :( It was on my strip and having to take a set of wings off and hauling a plane out in3 foot of snow and -10 weather is not my idea of fun.

Would love to see more done on this. Have not heard a word on this gear in over a year.

I'll see what I can find out, but I doubt he has the STC yet, I think I would have heard. Mine is one of the few I've seen with that gear.

Thanks 7GC. I am thinking of either going this route or having my stock gear rebuilt this summer while I am on floats.
