hubcap screws

The threads are striped in my goodyear rims that hold the hubcap plate on with the three screws.

It appears I have #10 screws holding them in. I would guess this is already oversized as a #8 would seem plenty.

I had two opinion's so far. One said to just put in some silicone calk and insert the screws I have. When it dries it will hold it enough. Another person suggested getting a #8 helicoil and that should go into the #10 hole I have and then just buy new #8 screws.

Any other opinions as to how to fix?

The manual shows AN515-6-4 screws, could rotate, drill & tap new holes or like you stated if there is any holding power silcone and off you go.

With alittle care you might go deeper by a few thd. or get tap for deeper thd. class

Get a Heli-Coil kit for -8 and go that route. Be sure to drill it out and use the tap; don't just screw in the coil.

EDIT: go the Heli-Coil route during the next annual; use the silicone as a temporary fix to keep it in the air.
