Ok, I've been looking for a 7AC or 7ACA within 300 miles of Columbus Ohio. Not much luck. Everything seems to be 1000 miles away. Here is my last (until I figure something else out) try.
WANTED: Best Bellanca 7ACA or Aeronca 7AC in my price range of 20k-24k within about 300 miles of Columbus Ohio. Should have all logs and good documentation of damage/repair. Would like fairly recent fabric and major (within 10-12 years?). Must not have been converted or modified to disqualify it as an LSA. 65 h.p. is good, 75 h.p. is better. No lights, radios or starters needed. Just a simple, light, straight Champ.
Yeah, I know keep dreaming but its out there. I owned a Champ just like that and was silly enough to let it go.
If you have something even close to that lets talk. Cell is 614-747-9521 call anytime. If no answer leave voicemail and I WILL return the call or e-mail at n6305n@aol.com

Re: Champ Wanted
Tom,
Not sure why 1000 miles away is a problem.
I just flew a Sedan 1800 miles each way to and from Middletown for the fly-in, so its not like the planes will not do the journey.
Find a good plane, one in good condition and one that suits you. We can usually find a way to get it to you after that!
I would rather have a good plane that has been hangared with the options I want and can move it back to where I live. Finding something that is anything less than that usually ends in your not being happy or spending a lot of money on it turning into your plane later on.

Re: Champ Wanted
Joe,
I've owned 41/2 airplanes (my brother and I share a 172 my Dad restored and can no longer fly) in the last 20 years or so and have probably looked at 10x as many before finding "The One" and the thought of spending money for a round trip ticket, rental car and motel to check out 2 airplanes 200 miles apart but 1000 miles from me seems like a waste of money. I've seen a LOT of airplanes that were not as advertised.
The 2 out of state airplanes are a 7AC that is very likely worth what he is asking and a 7ACA that I could probably get the price down low enough to pay for a ferry pilot to deliver. In either case the aircraft would have to be delivered because what the Columbus PD calls casual leave time, ie. unscheduled vacation, is nonexistant in my unit. If I keep my range within 300 miles then, I can fly the 172 or drive on my day off to see the airplane and if I buy it can fly it home on a day off.
Bottom line is that the more I have to spend to inspect and deliver the plane, the less I can spend to buy it. If airplane X is worth $25,000 and I have to spend $3,000 to get it home then, either the seller lowers his price to $22,000 (That'll happen!) or I spend $28,000 on something worth $25,000.
I'd love to be able to do the 1800 mile XC but that'll have to wait another few years until I retire.

Re: Champ Wanted
Tom,
Please see the above post from Chris Hiatt. He will be glad to help you with this but I sure hope that you would help him past "costs" involved.
Find a good airplane somewhere and make it a good home for you. Chris or Tom Holmes or even myself could deliver it.
