Quick drain O ring

Post by Senior »

Is there any availability for the O rings on the 65hp quick drains?
They have a flat on one side, I don't see why a regular O ring wouldn't work providing it was the correct thickness??
Is there a correct way to remove them other than hot water & stretch?
Looks like the end is riveted on but I can't really see?? The plug would come completly apart, I think, if it was threaded on.

I HATE dripping plugs

This post is 8 years old, but I reciently had a friend that was loosing oil around the kidney tank on C-75-12, so much oil on the belly and on the firewall. Our weather is getting cold now, any way he flew to Oklahoma for Turkey day came back Saturday, apparently on his return trip he lost over 1 qt. Univair has these O-rings 3 different models now,the part number is stamped on the wrench flat. When we drained the oil we pulled the quick drain plug, the oring was wrong and had failed, some how a small piece of carbon I guess had also got into the quick drain. Personally I don’t like the oil quick drains, and I don’t use them, I know, it makes draining hot oil so easy, also pulling a sample is much easier, another thing when we pulled the quick drain their was no copper crush gasket, some kind of PRC sealant. Oh he reinstalled it, and was back aviating Sunday.
