30 Annu7al Aeronca Fly In

Post by jerryrosie »

The Third Annual Assembly of Aeroncas (and other Flying Machines) will be held at Shreveport North (62PA) on Footlight Ranch near Wellsville, PA on 9-11 September 2011. This event welcomes all aircraft capable of operating from a 70 x 2600 foot well maintained, lighted, turf runway with clear approaches at both ends of 06/24. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 to 10:00, lunch 10:00 to 2:00 and dinner from 5:00 to 7:00. The menu we are working on includes Friday dinner - Maryland Crab Cakes and Saturday dinner - grilled steak (BYOB). Lunch at the Crosswinds Cafe is burgers, dogs and chili. More detail to follow. Runway info is available at http://www.footlightranch.com.

It just occured to me that not all of you are familiar with Shreveport North (62PA) and its facilities. This is a private strip owned by John Shreve located on the property of the Footlight Ranch (see websote above). For those flying in, there is camping under the wing for $10.00 per night and the Rustic Bunkhouse for $15.00 per night. Use of toilet and shower facilities are included for either accomodation (bring your own towel). If you'd prefer to spend the night in a traditional motel, we can provide ground transport at no cost. I'll have about 100 gal of 100LL available on the field, and York Airport with a full FBO, is only about 7 minutes (by Aeronca) to the south. Sorry the pool will be closed on Labor Day.
