The shop at Danbury really knows these engines. You might want to give them a call. Also, Dave who you met at Warwick this summer and Merv at Merv's Landing, is also verty knowledgeable about these engines and carburators. Let me know if you have off during the week and can fly up to Warwick and we can talk to Dave if you want.

I had the same problem on my Chief and used the Carb Heat to control the mid-range roughness until I was in the air. On my engine though it turned out to be how the float was adjusted and it was not the power setting, but the angle of attack that caused the roughness. The carburator was cleaned out and rest and never had the problem again, regardless of what time of the year.

My Champ has neither an accelorator pump nor a mixture control and I have not noticed this problem on it during the last two seasons.
