I have an O-200 that I bought to rebuild many years ago, but my plans are changing and I may go in a different direction. Does anyone know the current value of a O-200 core? It has all logs since new, mags, carb, starter, vacuum pump, first run Superior cyls with new style pushrod seals. It was removed at 1800 SMOH when the flight school sold it's C-150 fleet and the buyer purchased the backup 0 SMOH engine to put on the 150.
Any thoughts?

Considering the hours I was going to say around $3500. Also, depends on the mags and carb. There are several AD's if I remember on some carbs and if the mags are old Slicks or others that have AD's that certainly reduces the value somewhat. I just went through that with my 0200. A friend of mine was building a Wittman Tailwind but never finished it so he sold me the engine he'd bought back in the 70's. I only paid $1000 for it but had Bolduc build the bottom end ($5000, crank, cam, lifters and most gears were good
). Four new ECI cylinders $900 each, Slick mag kit $1800, rebuilt carb (the old one had a pile of AD's) $700, so it all adds up to around $12,000 by my route. Could be cheaper by maybe $500 if a local A & P did the bottom end but I tend to farm that part out and my IA and myself installed the new cylinders, etc. I believe a new Crank is around $2400 right now and I guess 0200 cranks have been prone to failure.
Probably more information that you need but thought I'd throw it out for whatever it's worth.

About two years ago I tried to buy one. Continental won,t sell you one, and it's not a certified engine, according to them. I next tried to buy an O200 of any kind. If you didn't have a core you can buy an experimental one. If you had a core, the new engine would have the core's serial number. All in all a weird experience in trying to buy a new engine.
