16th National Aeronca Association Convention Info!

Post by bwmatz »

Hi All,

NAA President Jim Thompson just gave the final blessing on the convention info page. Check out http://www.aeroncapilots.com/NAC16info.htm for convention schedules, lodging and just about anything else you might need to know. If you have any questions about the convention, please feel free to email me at bwmatz11ac@yahoo.com and I'll get you an answer, or at least make something up that sounds good.

I expect to be there. If anyone from the Atlanta area or between Atlanta and Cincy needs a ride, I plan on taking the fast mover - an RV-6, and will probably have a seat available. Drop me a PM.

Flew the Champ from Florida to Illinois, arriving at C77 on June 2 only to discover that my left side cowl door was cracked - probably vibration. But I am working diligently to get a repair and new paint in time for Middletown. I plan to be there! Let's get sn up to date head count.

Paul Agaliotis and I are coming via the great smoky tube in the sky. We'll be in next Wednesday. Outside of the USAF Museum, the Waco museum and the Wright brothers memorils and stuff, is there anything else that's neat to go see while we are out Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana way?

Carl,

Check out Huffman Prairie Field next to Wright Patt AFB. It's only about 1.5 miles from the museum. That's the Wright brothers first airport. Also a decent view of Wright-Patt.

Jimmy,

We did just that back on 2008. When we there, there were t-storms to the north and as we walked back out from the prairie, rain ever so gently was falling behind us and slowly catching up. If ever the ghosts of aviation past exist, they existed that day. Since then, I have dreamt of mowing a 2000' strip and having the Aeronca fly-in held right out in the middle of this sacred, historic, singularly American place.

Paul's wife, Judy is coming this time. I wish my wife, Laurie, was so interested but she fully supports my throughly enjoyable affliction. We'll take Judy to all the places we went to last time, including the Waco museum. Her dad, Sam, owns two Wacos, an RNF and an INF. He has owned the RNF since 1952, two years longer than I've been alive. Right now, Sam is recovering his Citabria and his son's Champ. He revels working in wood, fabric covering and restoring old airplanes. There is no finer, gentler a person than Sam. I look up to him as my second father and love him dearly.

Joe,

I remember, too. I can't wait to see you and your Sedan and talk shop.
