elevator trim cables

I am assembling an L16 after an extensive restoration. I have installed the trim cables the way the L16 manual says but they rub against each other. No matter how I route them they will rub at some point. Any one got some other diagrams for me?

Larry,
It should be a straight shot from the handle to the surface. There is a fair-lead on top of the cabin tube then to the mid rollers. From there to the tail rollers, they shouldn't cross anywhere.
One thing to remember is when the trim tab is operated, it's opposite of the surface. So, when the tab surface is selected down the plane is trimmed nose up.

the transition fromflat to vertical inbetween the two sets of rollers is where the rub is.

About one third of the Champs I've looked at have crossed trim cables under the stabilizer (including mine).
If you route the cables strictly according to the diagram in the manual they will end up crossed to get proper
direction of travel.

As some one points out above, it's when you change from flat to vertical around the two groove pully in the
very back of the tail. Take a look at the service manual and you will see what I'M talking about. It's possible to fix
but it takes a while. I think it took me about an hour what with resafetying and all.

It seems to me that the L16 manual has the trim cable routing wrong before the pulleys. At least when I first hooked mine up it came out wrong :( . Hard to see but I don't think mine rub anymore.

Larry,
After the mid span pulleys, cables on the bottom as I remember. You can rotate the cable pair clockwise or counter clockwise. At this point the position of the cables is fixed, the lower cable will always be the lower cable.
