Buzz Wagner STC

Post by MikeB »

Has anyone been able to get the Wagner 0200 STC since Buzz passed away? I've heard his son is running the business but haven't any reason to contact him up until this point. A friend of mine will most likely be interested in the STC in the near future.

Here's a thought: if the original owner of the STC passes away, is it possible for another party to pick it up or does the STC 'die' also (assuming no one in the immediate family is interested)?
I know a number of STC's have been lost for lack of owner contact for various reasons. You would think that the FAA might look at issuing a 337 in a situation like that as most STC's are only paperwork anyway.

Having talked to his son, the STC is still owned by him and hence he is entitled to payment for it.

Mike,

The STC's are usually passed down to the family members IF the original owner has done the paperwork before they pass.

If not then the Feds will pass it along if the will shows that the son gets the business and so on, but its more paperwork if he did not do this before passing.

In the case of another family having an STC and the owner passing, in many cases it reverts back to the FAA and they almost always refuse to re-issue it.

Thanks Bob and Joe. Good to know the STC is still available from the Wagners.

I am told that in the case of lost or canceled STC's, if you can find an aircraft that employs the modification or change, you can reference the 337 completed for that modification on your 337 as previous accepted data. NOTE WELL this is not an attempt to circumvent the rights of legitimate STC holders.
