Trim tab adjustment

I attempted to set the trim tab throws. I need about 55 degrees of total travel 34.5 down and 20 up. I am way short of this with only about 35-40 degrees total travel.

I'm at a loss as to where to start troubleshooting. The total travel should be set by the tab horn in back and the lever in front. If both of these are factory parts I don't see how I can have such a short throw on the tab.

Ideas would be appreciated.

Make sure you have the link assembly on one of the cables at the handle. Both clevis' should not be attached to the handle directly.

Thanks for the tip. Found em--- Pretty elusive little devils. Not listed in the 7AC maintenance book but they were listed in the L-16 parts manual. Pulled the print up and once I knew what I was looking for I found them in a bunch of parts that I got with the plane.

Now I find that my cables are perhaps 1/2 inch too long. Not a total disaster just a minor one. I'll take my Dremel and cut the copper sleeve off shorten them and re-swage them. I wonder it that's why they were in a box--not on the plane.

If I slip and cut my finger tip off my wife will have to put up with some hollering and cussing. If I slip and ruin one of the cables she'll hear some words she has never heard before.

I got this plane for restoration work I did on an Ercoupe . The IA who signed it off is still listed in the database. He did some really terrible stuff. But on the other hand there are some real neat things about the plane. It has been converted to a 7BCM using a combination of the service letters and STC. There are field approvals covering this and other work that are written to allow a LOT of latitude.

Back out to the hangar for the Dremel.

Those little sleeves can be a devil to remove. Once you get it off you can see just how well they grip.
