A few years ago when I had a welder replace the lower aft longerons, he also welded some tubing inside the stab mount.
The original problem was that the stabs were rusted on the fuselage mount from years of sitting outside before I owned it, In fact the left one was an absolute bear to remove, and once removed there was quite a lot of pitting on the tubing surface.
How should I fix this problem? Do I dare say it, use something like bondo on the tubing, sanding it round and smooth and painting it afterwards so it stays rust free? Then using something like a dab of antiseize on it on assembly to keep it rust free?
What do you experts and IA's think?
I know I have to drill the holes for the stab bolts yet.
