Arkansas Airplane

Post by Paul Agaliotis »

I'm looking at a plane in "the land of opportunity" and might need some help with it. I can't make it out there until mid December and could use some help to move and store it. It's pretty big and heavy, going to need 3 guys and a herniated squirrel to move it.
Is there somebody close that is available?

Arkansas is a big state. Are you looking at a plane north or south of I-40?

Richard,
It's outside Batesville, North of I-40. Sorry about that, living out here in CA it's a 2 day trip from top to bottom. It makes all other trips seem short.
It's a Stinson SR 5 project with many parts I can use for my project. I have a cousin in OK that is able to store the plane until I can get back in December.

Paul, I live about 35 miles from the Batesville airport. Is it at the airport?

Dennis,
It's in a town called Sulphur Rock, just East of Batesville. It looks like my cousin will be able to be there on the Labor Day weekend. I can't make it until mid December.

Paul, let me know if you need anything. Keep in mind, shortcuts through the Ozarks are not really short.

Thanks Dennis,
I will get some more information and pass it on to you. Mike might need some help in loading if you would care to, no pressure. Sometime I like to give a hand to meet new people and look at their stuff. I think the owner does a lot of aerobatic stuff for a well known group.

Paul,

Do you know Joe Champagne? Last time I looked he lived in that area, maybe just over the border in Oklahoma but has fiddled with airplanes for a long time and lots of experience.

Oh and I hear he has several squirrels that could help!

Dennis,
Working out the last details and will let you know when everything is set. Thanks for helping out.

Joe,
I don't know Joe, but understand he has a pretty nice Luscombe.
I went to San Diego to pick up my SR9 with Carl and my wife Judy. And WOW that thing was heavy. It's hard to believe the weight of these old cabin class airplanes. I had to use a whole bottle of Jack Daniels rubbed on my inside to start feeling good again.

Dennis,
I sent you a PM.

Richard,
I think we have all bases covered and we are also taking all manner of devices to get this plane on the trailer. I'm planning to be in OK mid-December to bring the plane to CA and buy all these guys something nice for helping out.
It's great to see this kind or cooperative effort in the Aeronca community. If I can help out in CA for anyone please feel free to ask.

Richard,
I won't be out there until mid-December, maybe Dennis can provide some.
I think it's great that everyone will band together to help out, and thank everyone involved. If there is anything that I can do out here in CA please let me know.
