Brake part cost?

Post by bob turner »

Question about the 7BCM brakes, which I think are hydraulic with Cub-like master cylinders and drum wheel brakes. Not sure; will check tomorrow. I hold a field approval for conversion, but owner has a budget.

To convince him - any idea what new brake drums would cost? I understand they may not even be available.

If your brakes are original their not like the CuB they incorporate expander tubes on the wheel. I went to the Piper Pacer or tri-Pacer wheel brake, with a little modification they bolt right up, Vermont Classics use to build the new drums for the Cleveland drum, don’t really know if their still around, the shoes can be volcanized on the pads no rivits and really tough shoe, Aeronca installed these brakes on the Military version, that ended up in the Civil Air Patrol in the late 50s early 60s. Pretty sure drawings are available.
