There are several 7AC Champs in the local area and the owners would like to build a Fuel Shut Off Guard to prevent the accidental shut-off of fuel in flight. We have all the material for the project except the spring. The Aeronca Fuel Shut Off Guard Drawing is 2-1510. The specs for the spring are:
ID .23 +-.02
Free Length 1.45
Compressed Length .65
Made from round steel spring wire of gauge to produce constant of 1.0-3.0# with plain ends unground -- direction of winding optional
If anyone has a source for such springs, or, has produced this shut-off guard, please contact me. I tried to attach the Drawing 2-1510 as a PDF (did not work) or a JPEG (too big). If you want a copy, send me a message with your email.
Thanks

Re: Fuel Shut Off Guard parts on Drawing 2-1510
I have this on my 7CCM and have send the drawings to others. Not sure what maybe special about the spring, but I just went to a really good hardware store and look at a few until I picked one that worked when I replaced mine. Easy enough to buy one over sized and cut it as necessary. What I have found though is if you forget to turn the fuel fully on and get it under the cut off guard, the engine will start and run, but you get reduced fuel flow and limited RPM. Having the fuel valve handle turned on but still over the safety bar only allows me about 1,800 RPM.

Dick-
Here is a link to the drawing you referred to:
http://aeronca.celinaux.com/DWGS/2-1510.pdf
You can substitute the spring as Bob suggested using AC23-27 PARTS AND MATERIALS SUBSTITUTION FOR VINTAGE AIRCRAFT for guidance

If anyone has a completed Form 337 for installation of the Fuel Shut-Off Guard fabricated per Aeronca Drawing 2-1510, I would like a copy.
