Stolen gas cap!!
Okay, went to go for a ride in the Champ and someone stole the gas cap and of course fuel. Where the heck can I get a replacement cap ASAP?
Thanks,
Keith
Thanks,
Keith

Nope, wasn't an embosed cap. I went to town and the parts store had one that sorta fit. I picked up a couple different ones but neither is the best. Anyone have a part number of a NAPA/Slant/ or whatever cap that'll fit?
The bad part of all this was I had a nearly full tank and hadn't flown in over a week due to constant rain....we got 7-8 inches from what I have been told. My plane is on floats and sitting on the lake so had lots of water in the tank. I had to drain what was left in it.....2-3 gallons....and it was half water. Took a stiff wire and some rags and soaked up every bit of fuel/water I could. Refueled and went for a flight. No problems.

Mac,
Thanks, I figured they would have one, but I need something NOW. I need to fly it to get the floats taken off this Saturday so was hoping to find a replacement locally instead of having to wait a week or more to get it in the mail. Bad enough having to drive 30 miles to town just to get one. Yeah, I live in the boonies....just how I like it.
Winter is coming fast. Heck it snowed last week but it did melt.

From another poster on the fAA email list:
If you get an vented auto cap, make sure it does not have the vapor control technology (a plastic valve and spring) in the cap. If it does take the cap apart and remove the stuff. You want a good clear vent and the plastic valve has the potential to bind and stop the fuel flow during flight.
And:
Think the one needed is a pre1955 Mopar. A universal may work but check the venting
