I am in the final stages of completing some work on my Chief and have a question that I hope someone can help with.
A gentleman told me that the landing gear are supposed to have a safety cable to prevent the gear from coming all the way out of the oleo tube in case it fails. Is anyone familiar with this?
Thanks,
Todd Wilemon

Re: Landing gear safety cable?
Yes, they had a safety cable on the 7 & 11 series do to the fact that poor servicing of the oleo with the fiber piston and top retainers could break letting the oleo come out of the case.mtw wrote:I am in the final stages of completing some work on my Chief and have a question that I hope someone can help with.

If you have complied with the AD on the fiber piston and replaced it with an al. one you could remove the safety cable but many leave it on for added safety.
